Barbara Armenti studied and received her B.A. degree in Music Education from Rutger's University in 1974. In addition to teaching music, she has been involved in Music Ministry for over thirty years. Her career began in her home parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Newark, N.J. where she was the first "Cantor", Soloist, and directed the Children's Choir as well as being an active member of the Adult Choir. During the years of raising her four children, Barbara also was a member of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Choir and several community choirs. She has been with St. Vincent Martyr Church since 1993 as the Children's Choir Director and Assistant Director to Vicky Martell (the former Music Minister) and took over the full position of Director of Music Ministry in 2001. She is a member of the NPM (National Pastoral Musician) Association and attends the conferences which bring us all the newest developments in our liturgical music.
In addition, she has served as the Vocal Music teacher in a number of our local schools, both public and private. As a member of the Harmonium Choral Society, Barbara participates in many outreach projects bringing music to the elderly and for the enrichment of school students as well.
