The Alpha Retreat is a parish-based experience for 9th graders beginning on Friday evening and concluding after 6 pm on Saturday evening. The main purpose of this retreat is to build community in a creative fashion through the use of witness talks, prayer, singing, ice breakers, group activities and popular movie clips while offering an introductory challenge to the candidates to begin taking ownership of their faith. We offer two Alpha Retreats per year, one in the fall and one in the winter. Each candidate is expected to participate in one of the retreats and a minimum of three follow up sessions.
Follow-Up Sessions: Both the Alpha Retreats and Antioch Retreats have follow up sessions for the team and candidates. The witness talks presented during the follow-up gatherings flow from the sequence of the liturgical year, which means they are lectionary-based. During these sessions, there is always a witness talk, small group discussion, large group feedback and discussion, singing, and prayer.
Please note that all registrants will be on a first come, first served basis.
