The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a faith journey which consists of four distinct stages:
This is the process whereby adults prepare for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. These sacraments, or sacred rituals, bring a person into contact with the Lord and lead to membership in God’s Church. During a series of friendly, informal sessions, adults are helped to make a decision about becoming full members of the Catholic Church.
People who might want to learn more about this special process, the RCIA, include:
•Adults who were never baptized and who now wish to learn about the Catholic faith with the possibility of becoming Catholics.
•Baptized Christians from other denominations who would like to learn more about the possibility of joining the Catholic Church.
•Catholics who were baptized, but never received First Communion, First Penance, and/or Confirmation.
