For a disciple, our worth is found in being a beloved son or daughter of God. He is our firm foundation and our guide through the shifting sand of life.
We are worthy of whatever call He has given us.
This weekend, Jesus tells us to fear no one. Fear is a great obstacle. When fear owns us we will never know our worthiness.
The truth is that God owns us – we belong to God!
We are disciples all of our lives. We are always learning. We are worthy of this call to discipleship because most of all we are beloved children of God.
“Yours are the hands with which He blesses all the world, yours are the feet with which He walks to do good, yours are the eyes, you are His body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.” ~ St. Teresa of Avila.
God guides those he has set firm on the foundation of his love. That love makes us worthy. Jesus humbled Himself for us because he believed we are worthy of his love. How might we model Jesus’ humility in our own lives? How can we look past ourselves and take up the yoke of others?
Worthy of Growing
We are worthy! We are enough! We are beloved of God!
God’s love calls us into a relationship with Jesus as His disciples. Jesus models the way of humility, making us receptive to the abundance of the seed of God’s Word. Growing this seed calls us to cooperate with Jesus to bring forth a bountiful harvest of love, mercy, and compassion.
Challenge for the Week:
Worthy of Strength
The parable of the wheat and weeds teaches us that God does have a plan for this world and He asks us to cooperate with Him to accomplish it. God has planted a seed in you that gives you strength for the task. We can help that good seed grow strong by attending virtual mass, or in-person services, praying regularly, participating in the sacraments, doing good works, and by sharing your faith. In Christ, we are strong enough!
Challenge for the Week: Pray for God for strength
and strengthen your individual faith.
Worthy of Loving
The readings today speak to our hearts and not our heads. Be like Solomon and recognize the true value of an open heart, for where our heart is our treasure will be. Jesus wants us to take some time to realize what our treasure is. What will we give up to have it? What does it mean to us? What do you love? What do you sacrifice for? What do you care about? Can you see yourself as a treasure called to affirm the worth and value of every sister and brother?
